< Prev <Home> Next >Having had pets since I was very young, broken nails from those ridiculous tag rings was a common occurrence. Not only were they a literal pain to add/remove tags and change out, they would often stretch or come off completely if they were caught on things. In my mission to have a collar that is more friendly for our furry friends, an update to these tag rings was also on my to do list.
Like most great discoveries, it took me a while and a few failed attempts, but I discovered three things. First, carabiners don't only come in that elongated shape that people are most familiar with; a less common, but ver useful, o-ring carabiner is very handy for putting multiple smaller rings with tags, bells, or air tags on. Another style of mini carabiner has a nail friendly opening for tags that also feels very secure, and is solid enough that I don't feel the tags will come off if they are snagged on something.
Lastly, properly securing an AirTag wasn't an easy task, especially when it is probably a good idea to have it in a waterproof case. These handy AirTag cases have a sturdy design that features an inner rubber ring so the AirTag is safe from dust and water; comes in various colours; has a solid loop at the top to put on a nice solid carabiner; and easy screw together front and back panels. It dampens the sound of the AirTag a bit but not so much that it can't be heard still. A small price to pay to have your AirTag secured safely on your pupper's collar.
With these few discoveries, I finally feel like a have a collar that is safe and comfortable for my pups, and friendly to my nails as well. If you have found any other discoveries that you wish to share, I would love to see them in the comments. I am always on the lookout for things that make our lives easier.
